As Salam Alaikum,

We are excited to announce we will be reopening Masjid Ibrahim for Jummah prayers on Friday, May 29, 2020.  For Jummah, we will begin allowing individuals into the building at 12:30 p.m.  Jummah Khutbah begins at 1:00 p.m.  Jummah salat is at 1:30 p.m.  We will continue to livestream Jummah on our Facebook page. Our Sunday School will not be opening this week, but we are planning summer enrichment activities for our youth and will keep you posted on those.

In order to keep all who attend Masjid Ibrahim safe and healthy, and in compliance with the rules and regulations set forth by Gov. Sisolak’s Directive on May 26, 2020, we have temporarily adopted the below rules effective immediately.  These rules will stay in effect until further notice and are not subject to variation.  We anticipate some of these rules will loosen as time progresses.

Rules for Jummah at Masjid Ibrahim Effective Friday, May 29, 2020

No more than 50 individuals will be permitted to attend Jummah services at this time per the order of the Governor. Accordingly, we will admit only 50 people into the mosque on a first-come, first-serve basis.  Upon arrival, we will ensure you have a mask, remind you of the below rules, and take your contact information down in case we have to contact you. Right now, we will only be holding one Jummah, but may expand this in the coming weeks.

After the first 50 people have entered the mosque, we will post this information on our Facebook page (The Masjid Ibrahim- follow us!) and send to our email list to let you know that no additional individuals will be permitted entry.  We will not allow individuals to congregate in the front of the building if they are not permitted entry.

Anyone entering the masjid will be required to wear a face mask the entire time they are in the masjid, even if you are 6 feet away from another person.  This rule applies to everyone inside of the building.  If you do not have a mask, you will not be permitted entry, though we will have some available at a nominal cost.  If you do not wear your mask during Jummah or elect to take your mask off during Jummah, you will not be permitted back.

After you enter the building, you will be directed to sit in a designated and pre-marked spot inside of the prayer hall to ensure compliance with existing social distance requirements.  You will need to remain at this spot during Jummah and during Salat.

For the time being, the bathrooms and wadu area will be closed at the mosque.  Accordingly, you will need to use the restrooms and make your wadu before coming to the mosque.  We will solely permit handwashing alone inside of the mosque. We anticipate relaxing this rule in the weeks to come, but at this point, we want to make sure we have a safe reopening.

Upon the conclusion of Jummah, you will be permitted to exit recognizing you must allow 6 feet of space from the person in front of you.  Should you choose to congregate in the front, we encourage you to remain six feet apart and maintain your mask.

No food or beverage will be permitted or served at the masjid for the time being.

InshAllah, we anticipate these rules will help keep our community and masjid safe. We understand these rules may be difficult for some to adhere to, and if so, we understand your desire to stay home in the meantime.  However, we simply won’t take a chance on anyone’s safety at this sensitive time.

Best,
